Weekends are looking a little different and this is what we got up to on Saturday / Sunday.
Saturday morning was VERY exciting – out first earthquake followed by our first tropical storm! By the time we realised it was an earthquake it was over but better to be safe than sorry, so we went out in the rain to pick up some supplies (supplies pictured below).
Fortunately (for us) unfortunately (for getting work done) the surf forecast is good EVERY SINGLE DAY. But seeing as it was the weekend we treated ourselves to a couple of hours of getting half drowned and dumped in big waves – with a sprinkling of actual surfing. I had never tasted anything better than a coconut on the beach to dilute the litres of sea water I had swallowed. After blaming any and all of the mistakes we made entirely on the boards we had hired on the beach, it was the final push Harry needed to get down to the surf shop and pick up some new boards.
Saturday nights now look pretty different – I would much rather wake up feeling fresh for a Sunday morning surf than in a crusty dusty Bintang hangover. So after a posh dinner (by posh I mean it didn’t cost us our usual £7, more like £12) and some UNREAL cookies, we put the new surfboards and ourselves to bed.
A very Sundayie Sunday.
Went out for some breakfast. Bought a water bottle full of petrol from a man on the side of the road. Sat by our pool. Made our 86th visit to the surf shop – if you know Harry and his obsession with collecting gear you know we now have a bag full of new fins and leashes.
Took a turn around the local Sunday market. Besides it being 100 degrees there was A LOT of good clobber. We sadly did not leave with a full set of shell tableware, a different sarong for every day of the week and 100 anklets, but to celebrate not spending all our money at the market we bought new bike helmets that actually have a chance in hell of staying on our heads.
Went down to the beach for sunset and to check out a new surf spot – wasn’t quite Rhyl (sand was too white and soft, sea was too blue and warm and the weather was too hot and sunny but you can’t have it all)
Loving this!! Glad to see you’re settling in well. Looks dreamy 🌊🌊
