One of the most pointless blogs I have ever written but a very important memory for me to capture. Not that I’ll be forgetting about this ice cream experience any time soon. 

Welcome to an in depth and detailed description of the best coconut ice cream I have ever had. 

We took a 2 day trip to Ubud with our friend Jack and after dinner on the first night, we were wandering around the very very hectic markets in search of dessert. Harry and I are much more middle of nowhere people than bustling market place people, so we were on the hunt for somewhere a bit more chilled.  We spotted a shop called Tukies Coconut Shop. It looked very unassuming and a little bit grubby compared to other restaurants. It was nothing special inside and despite coconut being one of my favourite ice cream flavours I thought it looked a bit questionable, so turned around to leave. As we were leaving, a woman recommended we try the ice cream because it’s her favourite and she wished one of these shops would open in Singapore. 

Honestly thank god for this woman!!!

They only serve one dish – coconut ice cream topped with toasted coconut flakes, coconut husk and coconut sugar. One of the most unreal food experiences I have had in a while. The ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had and tasted like genuine coconut, not coconut shower gel. The sugar and flakes added crunch and extra zing to the ice cream and the husk was like a coconut flake. The flavours were so genuine and I could have eaten 10x the amount we did. 

I think we actually ate in silence for the first couple of bites. Even Harry, who would have probably been happy with a kitkat, was impressed. The unreal ice cream was all the encouragement I needed to ransack the mini shop attached and leave with a bag full of coconut butter and coconut cake. 

This matched the unassuming beach bar on Carriacou that served the (now joint) best ice cream I have ever had (if you know you know).
